Vertonghen, who briefly returned to the pitch after a lengthy assessment before being substituted, had suffered concussion but Pochettino said all the correct medical protocols had been followed and the Belgium international left the stadium at the same time as his team-mates, stating he felt fine, having briefly fainted.Spurs’ manager had to step in to stop the defender collapsing when his leg buckled as the 32-year-old was helped down the tunnel by medical staff looking ill and disorientated. I was not involved, Pochettino said. That was the doctors decision. Its so important that the rules and the protocols are there. Our medical staff followed the protocol. I was never involved.
