The 31-year has been without a club since leaving Genoa in the summer, and has suffered a series of major knee injuries throughout his career.Rossi posted a message on his Twitter account to confirm his return to United was not in in any way related to coaching, while also uploading a picture of Old Trafford under the floodlights on Saturday.Under Sir Alex Ferguson, Rossi made 14 appearances in all competitions and scored four times before making a permanent switch from United to Villarreal in 2007.Despite being named United’s Young Player of the Year in 2005 and Reserve Team Player of the Year the following season, Rossi never managed to truly establish himself in the first-team and endured several loan spells away from the club.
